Shawna Yang - Tenor Sax
After graduating from the TamKang University with a major in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, Shawna received a master degree in art with a major in musicology from the National Taipei University of Arts in Taiwan.
She was an alto saxophonist for the Dizzy Jazz Band and the Taipei All Star Big Band in Taiwan. After joining the Metamorphosis Jazztet, she switched to play tenor saxophone.
In 2000, Shawna accepted a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music and began to major in Performance with the tenor saxophone as the principle instrument. She has private lessons with Bill Pierce, former saxophonist of "Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers", learning techniques and improvisation for the tenor saxophone.
Shawna also has a great interest in Jazz Composing and presented her first original composition named "Afternoon in Fenway Park" at the National Taiwan Arts Education Institute in September 2001.
